This is true.

What Nebraska ran most of was dive options, arc options and trap options. The dive option was basically fake to the FB, two quick steps right at the end man on the line and then a pitch or a keep. It was a very fast, attacking option. The arc option is basically what the load option is in NCAA. FB leads the play outside. The trap option is similar to the arc/load option but with Power O blocking (the playside guard pulled in front).

Of those plays, only the Arc option is replicated in the game. The triple option in the game develops too slowly to work like a dive option, but it is as close as you can get. Probably the best "option" in the game to replicate the dive option look is the QB-FB Option in Wishbone, but there is no pitch man.

It also has a few gun looks to use, all with option. I think the Goal Line formation has wishbone too. That is the closest if you are looking to truly replicate.

Now if you're looking to modernize it, Wake Forest is probably your best bet. 5 I, all with option looks, a Wishbone which is one of my favorite formations and a lot of good shotgun.

The Option Run book isn't bad, but be sure your option is going to work because passing out of it is brutal.

My only issue with the run balanced is the lack a a good spread passing game, which wake has in abundance.

Re: Osborne-esque Nebraska playbook?

I like the multiple playbook a lot.

It has a lot of good flexbone and wishbone stuff, as well as wildcat and a plethora of shotgun options, I formation, strong, etc.

I don't know how well it represents what TO ran, but it's a great playbook nonetheless.
