Which playbook(s) fit what I'm looking for?

If I can get any type of help in this thread I GREATLY appreciate it. I just got NCAA 11 about a week and a half ago and am enjoying it but still looking for my perfect playbook.

My type of offense is something like this.

1) Run first. Around a 60/40, run/pass split.
2) About 75% of runs have lead blocker, so alot of I-Form, Strong, Weak, etc......
3) A wide variety of short-medium pass plays. I don't look to go too deep unless I need to do so.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for any help.

Re: Which playbook(s) fit what I'm looking for?

Tulane is the best.

4 I-Form (including the very potent run formation Y-Trips)
2 Strong I
1 Weak I
1 Pro Set
1 Wildcat

I run about 55% run, 45% pass with Tulane, although the playbook is set up so you can pretty much run as much as you want to as long as you've got the Offensive line to do so.

The passing game is West Coast. You've pretty much got 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 FB, 1 HB on the field at all times and your TE will have just as many catches as the WR, running a lot of slants plays. Big, big, big time WRs can really shine in this sort of offense, but you're really looking for oversized possession WRs when it comes to recruiting.

The running game is simple, straight forward, power run. You're running behind 7 blockers (5 linemen, TE, FB) nearly every time. When recruiting, you want that power back, although speed backs have their place. I generally try keeping one of each and rotate them using the speed back more on 3rd and medium type passing situations.

There's a thread floating around with a pretty good discussion on I-Form Y-Trips, which you'll definitely want to take a look at for running this formation from the Tulane playbook.

The Wildcat formation is also easily used as a power run formation, a slightly different approach to the power run game...but don't be fooled...it's power run, and if you're trying to do anything else with it, you're playing it wrong.

Split Pro set is a great running formation, but my favorite part about this formation is how nice the West coast passing game works out of it. This may be one of the most balanced formations in the entire game.

Michigan State has all of that except the Wildcat....Micghigan State's playbook also has the Maryland-I formation.

I disagree.

Michigan State has...

I Form Y-Trips
I Form Tight
I Form Twin TE
I Form Twins
Maryland I Heavy
Strong I Normal
Weak I Normal

Where Tulane has...

I Form Normal
I Form Tight
I Form Y-Trips
I Form Twins
Shotgun Wildcat
Split Normal
Strong I Normal
Strong I Twins
Weak I Twins

So... Michigan State and Tulane both have 4 I Form, 1 Strong, 1 Weak. Outside of those 6, Michigan State has the Maryland I Heavy, while Tulane has Wildcat, Split, and an extra Strong I.

Now, Maryland I is a pretty good pure run formation, and great at the goal line...but you already have both Goal Line formation, and I-Form Y-Trips formation in BOTH playbooks. Maryland I just becomes a third goal line/short yardage formation...that's not that great to pass out of because you've got no WRs in.

I'd rather have Split than Maryland any day. Wildcat and the extra Strong I are a nice added bonus.
