When your player is in the running for the Heisman...

...does anybody feel like you alter your gameplan to accommodate for it?

For example, I'm in year 2 of a Michigan dynasty and Fitzgerald Toussaint is 4th or so in the Heisman race in Week 9. I don't mean to do it on purpose, but I've found myself giving him the ball far more often in my last few games than I was in the beginning of the year.

Anyone else do this?

I think everyone does it. Luckily I haven't had a player in the Heisman race yet in 11. I feel like once you start game planning for one player on your team you start forcing things and then start losing. I'm guilty of punting the ball on 2nd or 3rd down at the end of games to get my punter extra yards... yes he did win the Ray Guy award that year.

If you don't intentionally do it, I think it's definitely in the back of your mind and you may subconsciously give your HB/WR 1 more run/reception per game

Re: When your player is in the running for the Heisman...

I've thought about this a million times. For me? Yes! It absolutely affects how I play the game, particularly if the Heisman hopeful is my QB. I'll look to throw TD passes once in the red zone instead of running the ball, which often leads to an increase in interceptions. It's hard to do, but you sort of have to just play your game and hope it works out.

Currently I have a RB in the mix who (due to my below average WR) is practically my entire offense. He's like a old-school Brian Westbrook ... fast and super quick with great hands. I hand him the ball, work him on screens, and force it to him in the flats.

I'm running a Houston dynasty and my QB Case Keenum is leading the heisman watch with Washington's Jake Locker 2nd. It's pad the stats time sportsmanship be damned.

Re: When your player is in the running for the Heisman...

Im in year two with SMU and after a 10-0 start Padron has himself number 2 in the heisman race. My whole offense is passing, but I find myself completing short passes to boost his completion percentage if it drops in a game.

Re: When your player is in the running for the Heisman...

in my SJSU my RB was in it, but i had to give him the ball 25-30x a game last year. This year i have a capable back up that i got in recruiting. So now I only give him about 20 carries and now he has been fumbling a lot. So even more carries have been split and now he's out of this years Heiman race when he was once leading it... why? cause i value wins over mr. fumbles stats. (he has 12 fumbles on the year)
