When up big, the only time I have thrown a pass and not got a -50 is on a HB Screen. Ironically I scored on it too.

I used to care about sportsmanship, then I was up 28-0 on Northwestern after 3 quarters. I threw a pass on 3rd and 9 and got a warning about running up the score. So I kept running the ball to no avail and punting. NU scored a TD...then another...and once the momentum in my game was gone, I couldn't get it back. The final was 28-21. I no longer care about sportsmanship. If I win 70-0, so be it.

Can someone explain how the Season Showdown even matters? I don't play online ever, so is there any sort of offline reward or penalty? Does it affect recruiting or something I'm unaware of?

The sad thing about SS is that in real life coaches like Mike Leach are called The Mad Scientist... and are praised for the innovative offenses... yet in the game if you play like Leach coaches you get -500 for being unsportsmanlike...

Unfortunately EA doesn't have the guts to admit what a total disaster SS is, so they not only keep it in, but they force it down your throat.

I was up like 35-0 in the third quarter, and throwing screen passes with my back-up quarter back, and getting -50s... :/

yeah, the 'running up the score' is too sensitive. I was up 24-0 at the half, eventually finished 48-0, passed the ball only 4 times the entire 2nd half and yet I finish with -220 sportsmanship points. 2 different times I was docked -100 point on a 3rd and long when I passed the ball.

but with that said, it doesn't really bother me. it doesn't mean anything to me. gives me a good laugh I suppose.

When I'm playing against the CPU(which is always) I could care less about sportsmanship. In my dynasty it's rare that I win by a large margin, so heck, if I'm up 28-0, I'll continue to pile it on.

If I was against another human I'd be more respectful and sportsman like.
