I always thought they just cleaned them up/re-painted.

As far as favorite helmets.. Oregon's white and black ones, tOSU, Michigan, Texas, Miami, Florida, and Notre Dame come to mind.

There are various other ones that I like, but those are all my favorites.

When I played in HS we had ours repainted every month or so by an outside contractor. We also had them refurbished and repainted at the end of every year. At the end of the year a portion of the helmets would be thrown out and new ones bought.

My favorite helmet that is not my team is Michigan



Also like this one by TCU and of course FSU has a sweet helmet but I may be biased here.

Flat black has got to be the winner hands down...

Just seen App States pro combat uni's (im behind i know)and there pretty sick.

I love that one too! If anybody happened to watch the College World Series this year USC (South Carolina) had a flat black helmet too! Awesome!
