How do you stop the middle of the field TE pass?

I find I have to play coverage to stop the CPU from slicing and dicing me. Typically I control a middle linebacker who can help with the run or cover those irritating middle routes. I'll even drop back further to take away the middle posts if I see them coming. It also helps with getting sacks if you can play decent coverage and keep the receivers covered longer. I'll admit I sometimes make bonehead mistakes and my area is wide open but I'm better than leaving it in the hands of the CPU by a longshot.

Manually cover the tight end and hold the left trigger (ps3). If you time it right, press the triangle button, pick all day. Good luck!

Yeah sit underneath the routes with the Safety or run Nickel 3-3-5 Cover 1 the Outside LB's both drop into hook zones.

One thing to watch out for when playing man coverage is the absurd amount of players that run into each other which causes players to get wide open. It's a glaring problem that doesn't get addressed enough.

Also, when it comes to covering the TE position, for some reason the defensive AI is completely flat footed at the snap, even when using pass commit and having high play recognition/man-to-man ratings. I have played a guy who loves to use his TE's and it is so frustrating to watch your 95 spd FS get beat by a 79 spd TE on a quick drag across the middle. Running double teams rarely works either as both players end up trailing the TE.

Be aware, too, that the ND TE is rated in the 90s. He is going to make some spectacular catches, even with good coverage. So, part of it is that he's one of the higher-rated TEs in the game.
