Big Day For E.A. and Ncaa Tuesday

Former NCAA player's suit threatens Hollywood

SAN FRANCISCO – There was a time when Sam Keller couldn't wait to get his hands on Electronic Arts Inc.'s latest edition of NCAA Football, which images down to Keller's distinctive visor he wore while playing for the University of Nebraska in 2007.
EA shares royalties with the NCAA for use of college stadiums, team names and uniforms and the players' images in a game that racks up hundreds of millions of dollars in annual sales.
Because they are amateur athletes, the players don't receive any direct benefit. But Keller and several other players think they should.
On Tuesday, Keller will watch his lawyers urge an appeals court to uphold a trial judge's decision that EA and the NCAA appear to owe the former Cornhusker and — by the extension — thousands of other former players millions of dollars for using their images in the video game.

As long as they dont use their names, they owe them nothing. That's why Madden has names and NCAA does not

Re: Big Day For E.A. and Ncaa Tuesday

Just to be clear, no one at Nebraska considers this douche a former Cornhusker. He's just a jerk that no one liked at ASU and Callahan was dumb enough to promise him the starting job if he transferred to Nebraska. Never mind Joe Ganz was better than Keller and his god awful throwing motion.

Also, get over it. You are paid money in the form of a free education.

EA is just going to make random rosters if this goes too far. I see no way in hell they take away the ability to edit them yourselves. So named rosters still through lockers. Problem solved. Not sure how this would affect online play, but Im sure they would figure something out.
