Rule Question

I consider myself pretty knowledgeable when it comes to football but I had a situation the other day that left me wondering. I ran HB Swing out of the shotgun and threw it out to my running back and he ran forward for 7 yards. After the play a graphic came up saying 7 yard rush. I went back to the replay and it was a backward pass. I havnt seen this situation in real life or maybe I just dont really pay attention to it. But do backward passes count towards rushing yards or passing yards?

Yes, backward passes get recorded as rushes. Similarly, an incomplete backward pass is counted as a live fumble, not just a dead ball incompletion.

Re: Rule Question

Yeah...This is the case in the NFL as well. That's considered a rushing attempt.

Speaking of this, I had a strange situation in my last game where I completed a somewhat lateral looking pass to a RB who scored a 2-yard touchdown off of it. He got credited for a touchdown RECEPTION but the QB did not get credited for a touchdown pass. Weird.

Re: Rule Question

As these guys said, yes it counts as a rush. It's the same idea as an option toss.
