There are teams that are able to make good teams with "lesser" talent and they are judged After their results not Before their results. If you would have prestige ratings based on just what goes in to making a team Before the results then what is the point even of playing the games? Lets just have it be a recruiting game huh?

Auburn and Oregon should be 5 stars. That Auburn guy earlier saying that Auburn was a 5 star then so is Alabama is nuts. Alabama has been #1 at some point during the season for 3 years straight and is starting out #2 this year. Auburn is an underdog in Vegas in 8 of their 12 games this year. Even with the NC win, this fact alone makes them not a 6 star. This does not happen to 6 star teams.

That is what the 5 star rating is for. It's for a team that could make a run in any given year, but that is not making a run into the Top 5 every year. Oregon has a better case because they have won the Pac 10 two years in a row and are right there in the Top 5 again to start the season.

LMAO...now we are relying on Vegas point spreads to determine prestige in a video game.

What are you relying on then chief? No 6 star team should ever be an underdog in more than 50% of their games, and no other 6 star team is.

Ex: Alabama wins the NC in 09 and comes into the next year preseason number 1 despite losing its whole defense. Florida wins the NC in 08 and comes into 09 preseason number 1. Oregon loses 10' NC and comes in preseason Top 5. Auburn wins the NC and is predicted to be 4-8 the next season by the people who make millions predicting the outcome of games; people who know a lot more than you or I, and a hell of a lot more than the people at EA Tiburon.

We're underdogs in games because we play in the toughest division in College Football and we lost 18 starters off of our squad. Pretty simple.

Bama did lose a ton of their defense in 2010...BUT....they returned their entire backfield, a star WR, star DT, and star Safety.

Florida returned Tebow and Co. Oregon returns probably the best backfield in America in LaMichael James and Kenjon Barner along with Darren Thomas.

Auburn is pretty much replacing everyone this year, on both sides of the ball sans McCalebb/Dyer.

It has ZERO to do with our "prestige". It has everything to do with returning starters/schedule, etc.

You really think professional oddsmakers base their spreads on "prestige"??? Really? You need to gamble more and/or get out to Vegas more.

As far as AU's prestige goes as it relates to NCAA 12...

Won National Championship? Check.
Recruiting elite talent to replace departed starters? Check.

This will be our 3rd straight Top 5 class by the time Feb. rolls around. We'll also be returning approximately 18-19 starters in 2012, with most of our tough games in Auburn.

So I'm willing to bet that our "prestige" amongst your Vegas odds makers will MIRACULOUSLY improve in 2012 over 2011....chief.

So far, all I'm hearing is a bunch of Auburn fans saying that Auburn is a 6 star. You guys are delusional. You're a 5 star, and you're the only people who think otherwise. You guys were 3-8 two years ago, then went 8-5 and then 14-0, and this year you'll be somewhere between 7-6 to 9-4 this coming season. That is the definition of a 5 star team. Someone who can contend in any given year, but doesn't contend every year. Auburn has to show consistency before becoming a 6 star.

Really?

2009 13-1
2008 12-1
2007 10-3
2006 10-3
2005 13-0
2004 11-1

and so on.

That was one bad year, Texas has proven consistency as a contender. His statement has some validity, Auburn can contend from time to time, but is not a yearly contender. Seems like 5* is a perfect fit for Auburn at this time.
