What is considered cheese?

I have been playing online the past week and this is what I hve encountered. Ppl never punt on 4th, one guy would just run out the pocket soon as the ball was snapped, another guy would set up for an onside kick anytime he scored then when I audibled to an onside kick he would audible and kick a regular kick, another guy would manually take his DE into coverage anytime he thought I was passing (I just ran the ball right where he used to be). I just want to know is this standard online or is this a bit much.

i don't really consider any of those cheese, as you can really make them pay for any of those

the kickoff thing would be really annoying though, waiting for the players to line up...

some people online are just annoying, but for the most part games i've played have been ok online

Re: What is considered cheese?

All of that is pretty standard if you're playing random people.

A cheeser is just someone treating the game for exactly what it is a: video game. They aren't really concerned with staying true to the real life game, just doing whatever works in the video game. Just so happens that things that tend to work in the video game wouldn't in real life, there's a gap.

So yeah all of that stuff can be called cheese I guess.

lol

Those things are definitely cheese... along with money plays like verts and adjusting the line/linebackers so the offense doesn't block people.

Never punting on 4th down isn't the worst thing. There are some high schools around the country going with this strategy as the coach doesn't thinking punting really gives them much of an advantage.

Running outside the pocket with a speedy QB is annoying, but there are way to defend it.

The onside kick thing seems to be the most annoying thing you mention. It's a waste of time and it's not like people are returning kick-offs for touchdowns left and right. It would be different if there was a glitch in the game that let you return every kick-off for 50+ yards. What advantage is gained from this? The guy pushes you back 5-15 yards? Big deal. Just annoying as it's a waste of time. Maybe he figures he'll catch you not switching to onside coverage and then he goes for the onside?

Dropping a DE into coverage seems strange unless he's substitutes an outside linebacker in at DE. If it's actually a DE, he's not going to be able to cover anyone. Any slot receiver, RB, or TE is going to run right past him on most plays if you're patient. Also, only rushing 3 guys gives you an advantage as a QB (or like you said, run right at him).

Ok thanks for the punt explanation. I guess I would be mad if I actually loss the games. And my problem with the running qb is actually the lack of contain plays. I honestly can not wait til custom playbooks come out. I will run a lot of outside blitzes from the 3-3-5. And nope, it was just a regular DE.

This is why I don't play online matches anymore, except ODs with people I know.
