One way to seperate testing coach progression from player progression is to turn off coaching contracts. Would this not eliminate the coaching boosts that players get for progression? Understand I said for testing. If the coaches are fixed then there will be no problems as long as player progression truly works correctly.

I would say this is worth a shot, however wouldn't it basically cancel out coaching carousel?

The problem is Coach Prestige is what makes players progress and the progression of a coach is a bit insane.

This is a flaw at the very core of the game. What should happen is players come in with an invisible potential rating (I say invisible because then you would just cut players with low potential).

As it is Progression seems like a random number given out to a reciever. Potential rating would act as a modifier to that number along with coach prestige. The number of players with A potential should be between 20-40 players. These 20-40 player should be spread out between 1-5 star recruits. So an A potential 5 star comes in around a 75 or 80 Ovr and end his career at around a 95+ if with an A+ Coach.

Guys coming in at around a 60 with A potential might end up as a stud on their team around 80

Personally, who cares if a team has more 90+ players -- as long as the game plays fine.

People need to relax about one little number attached to the overall.

Yes, but this will give you an idea of how players progress on their own and just how much the coaches effect progression
