Through about 15 games played, I finally encountered the CPU electing to receive. Only once though.

Finally they fixed it. Last yr they never did. 95% of the time teams defer to the 2nd half. The cases where they don't usually are when they have a juggernaut of an offense and want to jump out early.

Do NCAA teams choose to kick 95% of times IRL?

yes most teams prefer to defer to the 2nd half. That way they have the chance to possibly score right before halftime and get the ball back after halftime. Most teams don't choose to receive. So EA has made it real finally but its different than in the past so people think its a mistake or bug.

I'm one of those who thought it was a mistake, I've been accustomed to the old NFL coin toss rule, which forced you to have the ball when you won the toss.

Yeah the NFL rule didn't make much sense.

You couldn't defer. Madden was actually wrong for years.

Completely agree, by the way I've just started a play now game, Mia at ECU (cpu) and ECU won the toss and elected to receive, so I've got evidence that it's not 100% of times.
