Not once has the CPU picked to receive on the first half off the coin toss. What's up with that?

Because it's good football strategy.

Ideally, there should be some variation. Teams and coaches vary on which the chose. Not everyone defers everytime in real NCAA football.

I would say 95% of collegiate teams do. So it makes sense why the CPU does. I was a guy that would always receive but now that the D is actually fun to play, I do kick the ball if I win the toss.

I haven't played an overtime game yet, does the CPU at least chose defense when they win that coin toss? That to me is much more important.

Yeah I have seen the CPU choose defense in OT the few times I got to it.
