ice the kicker?

I've been playing NCAA football since 2010.

I have never seen "ice the kicker"

Yesterday I'm playing an online ranked game and it's the final secOnds of the game....I'm about to kick a field goal and my opponent Calls like 2'time outs..ten the screen zooms in and the kicking icon turns blue with ice and I can't see the freaking arrow and I barely make the field goal and I win.

This happened again on my second game!

How do you ice your opponent? and can you practice kicking in the "ice the kicker" mode?

You ice the kicker by calling a time out when your on defense and the offense is lining up for an important field goal. When they break the huddle and running up to the line, call a timeout and he will be iced.

As far as practicing it goes.... Umm you could play a game, control both teams and get into field goal range and call timeout and go from there? That would me my thought

I'm p sure you can only ice the kicker near the end of each half.

Re: ice the kicker?

dont get me started on this dumb feature. theyve made kicking super easy since going to this kicking meter and then they took something the effects of which are completely ambiguous in real life and turned it into a cheesy video game feature.

they need to go back to the old kicking meter or make this one harder. playing with tougher kicking sliders and having ice the kicker switched off more accurate depicts a possible real life icing scenario. maybe you calling a timeout hurts your opponent, maybe it helps, or maybe it has no effect at all on the outcome. thats how it should be, in the head of your opponent or the sweat on his joystick, not a physical representation on screen.

Re: ice the kicker?

I played in an Double Overtime game recently where there were 3 iced kickers. All 3 of them were misses. I'm usually a great kicker.

The final play of the game came down to me needing a kick to tie and head into triple OT, but I had a bad angle to the left on the freaking goal line. Somehow I managed to put too much angle on it and it missed wide right. Even though it was a loss for me, The ending made it so much fun because it came down to a kick.

This feature is not cheesy at all. Just makes it more fun if you ask me.

Re: ice the kicker?

Haven't seen a single kicker get iced this year, I have been in situations where I was down 1 or 2 with under 10 seconds and the cpu called a timeout and never get iced. Another thing that bugs me is why do they call 2 timeouts in a row in those situations?

I hate this feature for all the reasons ActLikeYouCrow stated and the first thing I do every year is turn it off. now if we could just get an option to turn jump the snap off as well then I'd be all set.
