JMP for Wr and Te's being factored in as 1.0.... i would have enjoyed scouting them more if JMP was weighted more and had animations to express it, might have led to more agressive catches....and me going after possession types over speed

Great work! It is all very interesting. I have been doing intense analysis similar to this for both NCAA and Madden.>>>

Re: The Anatomy of a Players Overall Rating

Is there any way to get a readout of exactly what all these ratings correspond to in the actual game.

I wish I knew what all of them were too.

Re: The Anatomy of a Players Overall Rating

This is a great thread! Thank you very much for the info. I think releasing this type of info to the hardcore fans is doing us a big favor. We have been guessing for years on how numbers really react with the game. Of course if you give me an inch I want a mile. First I will concur with this previous post.

Also, what do sliders actually do to gameplay? I always wondered if it was a pure ratings boost or if it has it's own arbitrary modification. For example, with the pass coverage slider at default 50 nothing is changed but at 75 their man and zone coverage ratings go up 10.

And now I would love to take these OVR breakdowns and create my own unique weights and create my own OVR formula.

That should be the future of Franchise/Dynasty mode.

A question though, is this you "take" on ratings, or is there hard evidence these numbers are accurate? I'm not being disrespectful in anyway, i'm just wondering. Rated 5*'s wonderful help!!!!

It's based on the math from my research while writing my program. Because of rounding issues 99.4% of players (497/500) were within 1 point of their actual ingame rating. So short answer it's my take on it, but a pretty accurate one overall.
