Pass route color?

So I'm building my own playbook, and in the ace normal formation, there are 2 "Four Verticals" pass plays. They are identical except in one, the X route is orange in color instead of the normal yellow color, and in the other, the slot is orange instead of yellow. Does anyone know what the color difference means? I can't seem to find this info anywhere... sorry if this is an obvious thing, I never played football IRL, so I don't know the intricacies of reading plays

The orange route is the primary route.

Yeah Orange is the one the play is designed to go to.

Green are routes with pre-snap motion

Blue are routes where the player will chip block first

According to the game hints, it says "When you throw to your highlighted route you will have more success". I haven't noticed any more success but Im an average to below average passer.

Re: Pass route color?

It's the primary receiver, so he should be your first progression.

Usually at most you should have three progessions as a QB.

1) The primary route
2) A mid range post or curl
3) A pass to the flat

That tends to be the generic method I use, the check down (pass to the flat) should almost always be your last progression unless you see no one at all is on him.

Yea I don't know if I agree with that.

Re: Pass route color?

If orange does mean more success I haven't seen it. I see more successful passes to the flat and drag routes than the orange routes unless of course they are those routes.
