Any way to control the sim strategy? Coach mode

Ok is there any way to control the strategy of the other side of the ball during coach mode. For instance i'm a d cordinator and was winning by 6 with 1 min left. My D stopped them on a sack fumble. All my offense has to do is take 3 knees and the game is over, but instead for some reason they throw 3 incomplete passes and take 6 seconds off the clock, punt and the return goes all the way to my 10 yd line. I end up losing of course. now i love this coach mode but my gosh there needs to be a bit of realism. Anyone know if you can adjust the cpu strategy on the other side of the ball?

If you are a coordinator, watch the plays it takes more time off the clock.

If you are a HC and using coach mode, you would call plays on both sides of ball and that would help.
