5'9 196 isn't unrealistic at all for a power runningback. That's a pretty heavy high schooler for such a short height.

FWIW, that's Mark Ingram's height/weight coming out of high school:

Like others have said, just have him slowly get up to around 215.

Exactly what I was thinking. 196 pounds on a 5'9" frame would look a lot more like a "power" back than a "speed" back. Same goes for the post about the 6'5" 225 lbs. speed guy. Spread out 225 lbs. on that frame, and he'll look more like a receiver than a running back.

Yeah to only be 5'9".....196 pounds is actually pretty big so for him to be a power back sounds right. I know Maurice jones Drew was about that same exact size coming out of high school.

Most recruits weights are about where they should be. 5'9" 196 is pretty big for a high schooler (as has been mentioned guys like Ingram and MJD were around that size as prospects). Problem is players don't gain weight as they should (Ingram was 200+ by the time his freshman season started, and was visibly bigger his sophomore year). I end up editing just about all of my players' weights.

Re: Incoming HB recruit 5'9 196lbs power back

As mentioned, Roy Finch of OU is 5'7" 166 lbs. and runs over linebackers quite often. Also Dom Whaley at 5'10" 197 lbs. runs over defenders, always falls forward, and is considered a power back. Some guys are power backs because of strength, explosiveness and hit power, not always just being a big guy. As for 6'5" 225 speed, sounds to me like a tall skinny guy with long legs for blazing speed, not unrealistic imo. Usain Bolt is 6'4" 198 lbs. Imagine if he bulked up 25+ lbs. for football, I'm pretty sure he'd still be faster than most.
