Icon5 Dynasty: Best defense, worst offense?

I'm not at home, so I won't be able to pull up any examples or stats, but I noticed that I always end up having one of the worst offenses and best defenses in my dynasty. Even when I have a good season. This is probably because I only have the patience to play 5 minute quarters, but still, don't the simmed CPU games only play 5 minute quarters too? I even play on Varsity and I have the worst offense (and I plan to bump up the difficulty too).

If you want to see some of the stats to my games, check my dynasty blog. I think they look normal, but I just started getting into franchise/dynasty mode, so what do I know :P

Will using some of the sliders posted here on OS help even the stats out? Or do I just need to play longer quarters?

Re: Dynasty: Best defense, worst offense?

According to the game stats, they play 15 minute quarters for simmed games.
How that compares to a real game, it's about 6-8 minute quarters depending on how fast your offense/their offense run.
With 6 minute quarters as a defensive coordinator my team is running about 65-70 plays a game, and the opponents are running close to 60-70 also.

Is there an easy way to check how many plays you ran for a game, or do you have to count during/after the game?

Rush attempts + pass attempts + # of field goals kicked + # of times you punted.
Takes like 30 seconds to calculate

Ok, thanks. Can you check those stats for simulated games between two CPU-controlled teams?

Re: Dynasty: Best defense, worst offense?

Yep.
I always do it by going to scores/schedule, going over the game I want info about, and then selecting it. Look at game stats, and it shows all the stats. First downs, total offense, etc.
You want this:
Rushing attempts-yards-td: 30-160-3, which reads 30 attempts, 160 yards, 3 TD.
Same with passing.

Personally, I just add up attempts so I can get all of them. I go to player stats for the game (2nd & 3rd options to the right if I remember correctly), then add all the passing attempts, rushes, punts, and field goal attempts together to get the # of plays I ran, and my opponents ran.

So, now that I'm home I checked some games from week 10:

Week 10

F/OT 38-31 Oreg
#2 Oreg:
68 Plays
551 Offense
#12 OU:
51 Plays
225 Offense

F/OT 34-27 TCU
#19 TCU:
74 Plays
418 Offense
KSU:
78 Plays
497 Offense

All of the amounts of plays are about the same as what you get, but I kept OU under 250 while I got +500. And we went to overtime.

Re: Dynasty: Best defense, worst offense?

Sounds about right.
An LSU/Bama type team will usually run high 50 low 60s for plays.
An Oklahoma State type will run 70-85, usually 75-80.

Besides the yardage difference it looks good. Did they have a consistently shorter field, or did you fumble/turn over the ball late? Did they have a lot of defensive scoring?

If you average 500yds/game you should not be the worse offense. Whats an average game?
