If he's hurt, he wont play, so it doesn't matter where you have him on the depth chart. I'd just leave him at #1 and treat the #2 spot as your #1 spot just to be sure. I never promise solid playing time due to reasons you're having issues with.

If the promise is broken (but 2 others were fulfilled), is he still most likely to transfer? If so, what are my chances of talking him out of it? I've never dealt with this issue before
