I might be alone in this opinion, but I'd rather them take it out completely if I'm going to have to see mud and grass stains on unis when playing on an artificial surface.

You dont see it playing on an artifical surface. When using Oregon, unis dont get dirty. Maybe tattered/scuffed, but no dirt.
