Depends on the schedule of the teams.

If the SEC team schedules decent game like LSU does, no complaints about them being ranked ahead of an ACC team.

This. It is obviously on a case by case basis but see last year for example on a case where it would have worked if LSU had dropped one game.

The ACC is like a JV conference compared to the SEC since Miami and FSU have been down most years in its current 12 team existence.
