Right!! This is so true and while I don't ever want to just rip on a company because I understand that making a video game is no easy task, although from a players perspective it does look like EA does not put much effort into their football games these days.

Well, I don't buy the game, but I do find a way to play it. I download the demo, rent it for a week at the local video store, and play it a few times at a friend's house.

I always give the game a chance because I really do want EA to make a "good" football game, but in reality, it just turns into an exercise in confirming that all my complaints with the game are still valid. I do keep up so I'm not complaining about things that were fixed 2 years ago, but that's all it comes down to. I end up playing the game long enough to make sure I still don't like it. Sad.

No problem with that as long as you've at least tried it.

I guess I would be considered somewhere between sim and casual. I don't really pay attention to helmets, cleats, socks, etc. I don't know proper assignments in defensive formations. However, I know what the result should look like.

The biggest thing that I expect from the game before I purchase again is for it to play somewhat realistically. By that I mean, add the risk/reward and strategy into the game. When I choose to play a young inexperienced player, I should see the pitfalls of that decision. Ratings should really matter for all the players. If i put up a scrub player against a great player, i should notice the difference (no matter if it's oline vs dline, CB vs DB, etc.). Also, each game within dynasty I should have to think about how to stop/counter the opposing star players. As it currently stands, I can pretty play the same way against every CPU opponent.
