What is IP Booting? Is it like using a spoofed IP address?

Since I've had this game I have not played one game online. Today I thought id try. He gets Oregon and I roll with ND. He is kicking my *** 12 - 0. I finally get the feel for the game. In the second quarter I score 21 unanswered. He pauses the game and try's that ish on me. I just waited. He unpaused after about 5-10 minutes (I just got online and made food) I let the time run down and no DC. After score twice more he finally gives up and quits. Haha

I read up on it some, seems like the IP Boot is when people use network hacking software to get your ip address and can boot you out of games using your ip address.
