One thing I have always wondered and can't seem to figure out. Do rivalries in game ever change?

Say I play a couple tight games over four-six years against Georgia Tech as Virginia, will they become a rival?

I'm Richmond, and replaced North Texas...my only rival is Arkansas State...obviously rivalries with Maryland/Virginia/North Carolina/Navy would make a lot more sense.

It'd be cool if each game had a 'heat' meter, partially built up by long-standing rivalry and partially dependent on the importance of the game (Division on the line, both ranked, etc) which would impact your exposure and maybe a few other things. Once the permanent 'heat' got built up past a point you would be that team's rival, but if a series gets too one sided it would deteriorate.

I wish I could choose my Rivalries, I am stuck with OU, Iowa St & Texas A & M. Seriously if you had to have real out of conference rivals for Mizzou it would be kU for sure. Also sucks as I moved Arky to my cross division rivalry game in the SEC. There are many years that I have no rival game at all.
