Re: why is this thread so different?
I have two theories off the top of my head.
1) There's a lot more humility on The Show's forum - probably because the game is notoriously challenging - so when people seek advice about approach and strategy over there, they mean it. Here, everyone's a goddamn expert. There's no telling anyone here their playcalling sucks, or that their execution is garbage. They've been playing since Bill Walsh, after all. They're perfect.
2) With baseball, everyone's playing the same 9 innings, with more or less the same basic approach and strategy. Here, you've got guys playing 5-minute quarters, others playing 11-minute quarters. You've got guys running Air Raid, others doing the ground-and-pound thing. Some guys change their strategy settings every drive, or every play, others think it's cheese to use strategies settings at all. Some guys do the hot-route-every-player thing, some guys don't ever hot-route anyone. Some guys put real thought into their playcalling, others are button-mashing the playcall screen. Some guys play with penalty sliders that guarantee 10-15 (combined) penalties per game, others are content with 2-3 combined penalties. You got one guy saying there's too many interceptions, another guy saying the CPU is psychic, and a third saying he can complete every pass for a TD if he wanted to. Then all these people come together and talk as though the experience is uniform. It's laughable, really.
