Forget The Hit Stick...EA Should Use The Right Stick For Total Control Tackling

I put this on the Madden forum; but I think it applies here as well. Football is football right?

EA should just get rid of the whole "Hit Stick" foolishness and make the Right Stick Total Control Tackling aka the "Tackle Stick". I propose the set up to be like this:

Right Stick- Tackle Stick

Right Stick Up- Tackle High
Right Stick Side- Waist Wrap Tackle
Right Stick Down- Leg Wrap Tackle

LT(Left Trigger) Modifier

LT + Right Stick Up- Lead With The Shoulder Tackle High
LT + Right Stick Side- Lead With The Shoulder Tackle Mid
LT + Right Stick Down- Take Legs Out From Under Ball Carrier Tackle Low
LT + RT+ Right Stick- HIT Stick Type Tackles

Get rid of the canned tackling and utilize the IE to coincide with Total Control Tackling!!!

I also this comment on the madden thread, but wanted to inform the "NCAA only" gamers. They could add the helmet to helmet penalty which could limit the amount of times you launch/leas yourself at the ball carrier or defensless receiver.

Please don't think I'm trying to steal your thunder or anything, but I have been thinking the exact same thing for years. It would add another sim dynamic to the game imo and make defense a little but more fun, which it desperately needs to be.

It would be a cool feature and can see why some would like it. For me personally though its too much. I prefer smart AI and simple controls.

I could see there being a problem when the tackle happens towards the sidelines. Is down on the stick still a low tackle there even though left (or right depending on what side the field is on) is actually towards the ball carriers?
