Does subbing for your starting QB ever make sense?

I was struggling in a game recently (QB was throwing pick after pick). Being that is was a user-controlled game, I figured it was probably due to me not reading the defense right, rushing my passes, playing like an idiot, etc. A friend of mine suggested that I should have brought in my backup QB...suggesting maybe my regular starter was having a 'bad day' or something.

Assuming that two QBs have the same style (i.e. both pocket passers) does it really ever make sense to bring in a backup QB who has significantly lower attribute skills? Does a similar style QB ever come in and play better than your regular starter (I know in real life a QB can get rattled and a sub makes sense...but I would not think in NCAA 13)?

Sometimes pyschologically it can help to bring in the back-up mid game. Kind of like a fresh start.

If I have 2 comparable QBs if my starter gets cool (light blue) I'll consider it. If the the starter is cold (dark blue) I'll yoke him so quickly his head will spin. If my backup is clearly inferior I won't make a move until the starter is cold and then it'll depend on the game situation.

When QBs (even user controlled ones) get cool and cold they definitely get more inaccurate and are more prone to throwing picks.

What colors are you talking about? On the play call screen? I always see red with my QB sometimes, and orange with my RB...I always thought that meant they were getting tired lol...So, does it mean they're getting hot if it's orange or red?

Yeah, please explain about the colors. I have no idea what that's about.

I've never seen it be blue. I've seen yellow orange red and green... I thought it indicated how tired the player was... Green means not tired and red means very tired?

Not the playcall screen; the coach cam, the little cirle under the actual player: gray is neutral, blue is cold, yellow is warm, red is hot.

And yes, if my QB is blue, I will pull him in a heartbeat if I have a capable backup.
