Army/Navy

My friend and I were talking about how we had both been interested in starting up a Navy franchise, but that it would be a lot more fun if, while we were building up Navy, that Army was getting better as well. Now, realizing that all real-life scenarios are out (the military academies simply can't recruit the way other schools do, mainly because the players won't be able to play in the NFL for 6 years after they graduate), does anyone have any suggestion as to how to help Army out along the way?

Obviously I could play Army's games as well, but I don't have that sort of time. Is there anything less blatant than editing the player's ratings (which guarantees nothing) or simming their game each week until they win?

Along the same lines, maybe MikeOSU or Abner could give some ideas for recruiting restrictions to make it a little more realistic. Not impossible like it really is for the academies, but a little more difficult on myself. Maybe only 1 or 2 from each state (since each recruit has to have a nomination from a senator, congressman, etc.)?

I tried playing as Army once and its already tough enough recruiting you dont need any limitations

Re: Army/Navy

Thanks Donovan. Two questions:

1) Did you play several seasons with Army? I expect recruiting to be tough in the beginning, but once I get good, recruiting always gets really easy. I was hoping to find a way to make recruiting rules that made it more like what the military academies really had to deal with. Or does the game maybe already take this into consideration?

2) Is Ricky Ray really getting looks from the NFL? I don't know much about him, but everytime ESPN covered the Grey Cup playoffs (though the coverage was pretty brief), I heard them mention the name Ricky Ray.

On a side note, wasn't Ricky Ray the name of one of the freshman players in "Blue Chips" the movie about college basketball starring Nick Nolte, Shaq, and Penny Hardaway?

Re: Army/Navy

Maz,
actually, i am in my second year with Navy. I'm having a blast running the wishbone and flexbone. It's definately challenging, especially if you make your schedule tough. My first year i went 8-5 (with a win in the tire bowl). and my second year i am like 4-2.

You do begin recruiting better, but it still is pretty tough.
