They start with whatever you edit them to have in the starter file, but I think it'd be a dumb thing to do. I can't think of any reason why you'd want a Nick Saban or Urban Meyer to be on par with whomever ODU and UMass' coaches are.

You can turn off rearranging coach skills.

From what I understand, The CPU coaches all have an amount of points, but they get randomly assigned each time you start a dynasty. So using Nick Saben as an example, In my dynasty, he might use all his points to improve on field performance, but in Swamp swaggers dynasty, he may have all of his points thrown on recruiting.

I guess this would indicate that to some extent, EA sports has rated the all the NCAA coaches. Probably through a formula that takes in championships, years of experience, and W/L percent. You would think something like this may be in place to help separate the big time programs vs the little guys.

So you can't just go play dynasty unless you take the time to edit what you think every coach should start with?

If you really want realism then that's probably the way to go. Hopefully we'll be able to use the NCAA editor which would make it so much easier on us to edit.
