Exactly! And actually forcing the system to upscale to 1080p kills some system processing power. You are better off just playing in 720p.

Its really not worth it to play in 1080. I forced it earlier and it looked worse than 720.

Ps3 is 720HD not 1080p 720HD looks good but not 1080p. I have both systems and when i switch between the two my tv always goes 720 on ps3.

This is because in your ps3 system settings you have 720p as available output setting for your TV. The PS3 will ALWAYS play your game/movie/whatever in its native format unless it is forced to upconvert because your TV does not support the native resolution.

So if you disabled 720p as an available resolution it would no longer play in 720p, but this is not something I would do.

Re: PS3 says 1080p on the box

I generally recommend against disabling the different formats. Just leave them all checked and let the game display whatever it defaults to. The reason for this is because sometimes you can get some serious distortion based on the game. It may look fine forcing 1080p on one game but a total disaster on another. If it works for you with NCAA then do it, it may depend on your TV but I generally just leave it alone.

Most of the distortion though usually effects text. So things like menus and overlays may have noticeable distortion.

Got it thanks. The game looks a little cleaner now at 1080p on my plasma.

Everything looks better for me in 1080p. But I'm on a plasma tv, LCD isn't as good at higher res from my experience.
