It's not in any playbook, you have to be close enough to the receiver to trigger the animation. IF you really just want to see it, I believe one of the spread teams has a 2 RB Shotgun set with a Motion FB Screen. If you pass it as soon as you can, youll get the shovel pass, won't net you any yards but the animation will play.

I scrambled out towards a guy in the flat and got the animation. There isn't any special button, just proximity to the receiver.

I got it to trigger with the HB Mid Screen out of Shotgun Spread in Baylor's PB

That's actually wrong. They do have a Shovel Pass in Baylor's playbook. It's in Shotgun Spread formation 4-wide - 2 X 2 - w/ 1 RB and the play is called HB Mid Screen, just as Dylan_R&S said.

A friend pointed this out to me and I used it 16 times in two games, just to see how well it would work. I went 14 of 16 for around 90-100 yards. Longest gain was 16 yards. Worst was a completion for no gain. Twice the DT knocked it down.

I found it works great against a 3-3-5 defense.
