Run D help please

Obviously I know I can blitz, but that leaves me vulnerable up top. Anybody have any good defense that can slow the run down and still give me some coverage?

Thanks!

Re: Run D help please

I run 4-3 Over/Under and shift my D-Line away from the "up" linebacker. I user control the "up" linebacker for extra run support, and if it's pass I back into coverage.

Yeah I do the same, control the weakside backer and fill a gap and trail the play, or if he comes to your side, try to filter him back into help or towards the sideline. This year a team with an effective ground game is just hard to stop because you have to load the box, and then they will get you over the top

Re: Run D help please

I like running a 4-2-5 and play cover 2 spy when I'm playing certain running teams. But I prefer to recruit in a way that allows me to use the FS and SS to help in run support. I've always preferred the 4-2-5 to other defensive schemes.
