What determines whether players leave early?

It's kind of silly the way it works who leaves early. I won the the heisman with my HB his sophomore and junior year 99 overall, yet in the offseason your telling me he didn't even consider leaving? I didn't even have to convince him to stay. Meanwhile my backup tight end was considering entering the draft...

Haha In one of my Dynasties Manziel declared after the first season and i didnt know how but oh well. And i haven't been able to get Jadeveon to Leave after the first year either.
