Stopping someone who passes over the middle and slants

Looking for some feedback. I have played a few games against someone who passes over the middle and runs slants non-stop. Only other pass is a deep hailmary type of heaves. What is the best defense to use? Who do you control? Any help would be appreciated.

Run a zone and control one of your linebackers. He probably likes to throw to a specific side of the field on the slants. So as long as your LBs are in a zone, you can cheat up and try to jump the route.

Even with dropping the DT (hands?) anyone who blitzes me on a slant deserves to give me 10 yards.

Man with a high AWR and Man coverage 3-3-5 will kill the slants. The DB will run the route as good or better as the WR and you will never be able to complete the pass. The counter to this is a draw. I have completed many successfull drives alternating those 2 plays over and over for 5-15 yards per play.

Cover 1 man press.
Either manually control the hook zone or set zone coverage to aggressive. Defenders in hook zones tend to drop back to far (as if everything is a tampa-2 zone; EA may have cut corners or something) so it may be better to use a QB spy.

Also, set your DBs to shade inside...oh wait for some unknown reason we can't do that in this game. Good job EA.
