It isn't normal but I suppose if your TV has a crappy converter and the signal coming in is 1080i it's possible.

1080i and p are pretty much the same resolution.

There isn't much content out there in 1080p.

No reason not to be happy with 1080i.

There is actually a lot of 1080p content out there. Blu-ray, Netflix... and tons more. But I think that TV channels are still either 1080i or 720p.

1080p significantly better than 1080i. For sports, 720p is even better than 1080i.

BleedGreen, have you tried calling your TV's manufacturer?

I don't understand.. its a brand new TV I got for like $300+ from Best Buy.. its been like that right out of the box. When I go to display settings and select 1080p its a lot less quality then if I pick 1080i instead. What could the manufacturer do?

They could help you troubleshoot the problem. Maybe you are doing something wrong. Or maybe your TV is known for having this particular issue. There are a lot of factors to consider.

What's the model number of your TV?
What device is connected to it?
Is this device capable of 1080p?
How is the device connected? HDMI I assume?
What is the resolution of the source content (the movie/game)?

You might also try Googling the model number of your TV and see if others are having this issue.

Re: What TV settings do you use to make your game look better?

It says 1080p 60hz right on the box

its an insignia HD LCD TV 39" connected with brand new HDMI that I bought for like $10-$20 at Best Buy. On the back of the NCAA14 case it says 1080p on it. I first got my new TV, set it up with the HDMI, put display settings on automatic and played a game and the quality was weird, the players edges seemed pixely and it was bad looking. I was really concerned. I went to display settings and instead of automatic I went to custom and it had me pick from 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p, I saw 1080p was selected so I unchecked 1080p and checked 1080i and tried a game of NCAA14 and it looks beautiful.

Heres the TV http://www.insigniaproducts.com/prod...39L700A12.html

it says Discontinued.. is that bad?

Re: What TV settings do you use to make your game look better?

So the game console is connected to the TV with HDMI? Is it a PS3 or 360?

Are you certain that you set the resolution of your game console to 1080p?
