New hitstick mechanic?

I noticed something in the loading screen but couldn't finish reading it in time. Something about the tapping vs holding the hitstick...can anyone explain this? I'm guessing you hold for a bigger hit but was does just flicking it do?

Re: New hitstick mechanic?

Actually it seems like it's the opposite.

A flick will result in a lunge and I think has the best chance of the hit, if connecting, being a big hit.

Holding it will steer your into the tackle (just like holding the tackle button this year steers you in, called "heat-seeker tackling") but I tend to get more normal tackles from doing this.

Re: New hitstick mechanic?

Supposedly if you flick it down (or quickly tap square) you dive low to take out their knees whereas if you hold it aims high.

But I don't think it works

Re: New hitstick mechanic?

flick the hit stick to make your player do a hit stick lunge tackle. its like a hybrid of dive+hitstick

hold the stick down or up as you run into the ball carrier to do a normal hit stick tackle. down is supposed to make you take out the ball carriers legs, whereas up is supposed to do a normal big hit

It is not like we need to take out anyone's legs though; I can still light TEs up with my CB as easily as I can with a LB.
Methinks they were not entirely honest when they said that weight matters now

Weight accounts for next to nothing IMHO. With the IE.... A whole lot of smoke in mirrors.... Like " every hit is unique." Which is str8 horsecrap since I see the same tackles over and over and over in game.
