Re: Brendan's Conference Realignment Guide

I've already decided that in about 2020, I'm going to turn SEC protected rivalries back on, and switch Alabama and Auburn to the East and move Missouri and Vanderbilt to the West. What I'm not sure I'm going to do is whether I want to move Idaho and New Mexico St, out of the Sun Belt (and to either Independent or Mountain West), or leave them there so the Sun Belt doesn't drop to 7 teams and a six-game round-robin schedule (which seems too small).

UPDATE: I'm definitely moving UAB to the Sun Belt, so that'll put C-USA at an even number of teams, and boost the Sun Belt to at least 8, perhaps 10 depending on my Idaho/NMSU decision.

You were not kidding. I am on week 14 after doing this and there is so much chaos. Really tight conference races.

Re: Brendan's Conference Realignment Guide

Just wanted to add something, here's a sheet I made to follow step-by-step to re-configure everything after year 1, since the guide in the OP can have some snags in the flow here and there (atleast for me anyway.) It's exactly how it's represented in the OP, but I went ahead and streamlined it

Move Rutgers from American to Big Ten [leaders]
Move Maryland from ACC [Atlantic] to Big Ten [legends]
Swap Maryland to Leaders with Illinois
Swap Mich State to Leaders with Purdue
Swap Mich to Leaders with Wisconsin
Rename Big10 Leaders to East, Legends to West
Move Louisville from American to ACC [Atlantic]
Move Idaho and New Mexico State from Independent to Sun Belt
Move Old Dominion from Independent to C-USA [East]
Move East Carolina and Tulsa from C-USA to American
Move Western Kentucky from Sun Belt to C-USA [West]
Move Tulane from C-USA to American
Swap Southern Miss to C-USA West, WKU to C-USA East

Disable protected rivals in the Big Ten, ACC, and SEC
Enable protected rivals in the Mountain West
Move the Pac-12 championship game to Fight Hunger Bowl

Remove BCS bid from American
Change Big 12's bowl tie-in to Sugar Bowl

Re: Brendan's Conference Realignment Guide

It really comes down to: would you rather have accurate number of conference games vs accurate yearly rivalries?

I pick cross-division rivalries without a second thought. Games like Alabama-Tennessee, Auburn-Georgia, Arkansas-Missouri, UNC-NC State, FSU-Miami, Clemson-Georgia Tech, and even Indiana-Purdue are too important to lose.

I see your point, but I've edited the OP to stress that I prefer "number of conference games".

Is there a way to add more teams from team builder without swapping the original FBS teams

Nope, you can only have 126 in the game.

Re: Brendan's Conference Realignment Guide

Big Ten protected "rivals" for 2022-27 added. As a result, I adjusted the recommended rivals to avoid repeats of Maryland/Northwestern and Rutgers/Iowa.
