CPU Benching starters involuntarily?

Sorry if this is a stupid question... but I'm playing with ND and have GAIII, Carlisle, Bryant, and McDaniel as the RBs from 1st string to 4th. I have autosubs on 80-85 in/out. Formation subs are set up to allow for predicted amounts of carries for each back. Against Michigan (2nd game of year in dynasty), GAIII and Carlisle aren't having much success running the ball, and the CPU then starts putting Bryant in as a feature back (irregardless of depth chart or formations). Neither GAIII nor Carlisle were injured and I couldn't put either back in the game. Game was not a blow out at all and went down to the last play.

What the hell is this all about???

Re: CPU Benching starters involuntarily?

Progressive fatigue throughout a game causes a players stamina to never reach its previous max from the games beginning. Ie, if your subs are set to return at 85%, they may not get back to 85% in the 4th quarter, resulting in the "benching" you assumed.
