Re: BCS Predictions WAY Off

I've had all the usual suspects winning the championship in my various dynasties. It's almost always a mix of Oregon, Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, or Texas A&M in the title game. The only weird one is Fresno State seems to creep in to the picture from time to time, especially in year one.

San Diego State, Western Kentucky, and UL-Lafayette have played for the title or won it in my dynasties. Woof.

Re: BCS Predictions WAY Off

In just simming the game, over 5-6 seasons, I have seen Navy and GTech win back to back titles. Navy had a win streak of 20+ games as well.

I thought the results had more to do with the sliders used in the sims than anything else though.

Oh wait, let me guess. If an SEC team doesn't win it, then it's unrealistic?
I can name ten non SEC teams better then WV easily.

Those are the kinds of weird BCS simulations I'm talking about.

Yeah man, but this is a videogame. Not real life, and who knows? Maybe WVU can win it all 2-3 years down the road. You never know for sure.

WVU has been pretty good the last few years and they have been in the Top 25 pretty consistently, even getting as high as 5th last year. If the current BCS format was still in place in 2016, it is completely possible for them to make the BCS title game. Just because you can name ten non-SEC teams better than WVU now, doesn't you'll be able to do the same 3-4 years from now.

Re: BCS Predictions WAY Off

One thing I've noticed is that the sim engine greatly favors teams with a high run % setting - and those with a flexbone offense. That is why you see teams like GA Tech mentioned a lot as a surprising team who suddenly dominates. Army & Navy also do much better than they 'should' assuming they can perform well enough in the first few years and their coach stays. In my relegation dynasty (see sig below) the CUP has built Navy into a powerhouse over 15 years and is now a 5* team with 2 NCG appearances (both losses sadly) and several conference championships in a loaded conference. Ga Tech also has a few - but army lost their coach and hasn't been able to build any momentum.
