Recruiting FBs

I run a pretty basic Pro offense. I use the I form H back sets, The weak H back twins. And a few ACE packages like DUAL TE WING where almost everyset has a TE or FB in a 2 point stance and off the line a step.

Anyways... I been having a lot of success using the FB as a HB by using the FB or JUMBO BACKFIELD sub in packages. Anyone here use a running playbook and just recruit FB and switch them to HB?

Last game I used I-Hback Twins- JUMBO PACK, HB ISO and it was late in the game so my FB was my 2nd string(TrFr) in at HB and my 3rd string(TrFr) FB was in blocking and I busted a 56 yard run right up the middle with two broken leg tackles. POWER POWER POWER!

Re: Recruiting FBs

Power backs seem to progress better year after year. Recruit then convert to a FB seems to have worked for me ok.

Re: Recruiting FBs

I've noticed that if you recruit a fast FB and let him sit for a year or two and then switch him you can get a really good back. I run a power spread (similar to Auburn). I like one big back and one speed back. Converted FB's make great big backs. I usually recruit ATH's for the speed back position.

Re: Recruiting FBs

I have trouble recruiting them - I usually have to recruit power HBs or TEs to convert to FB.

Re: Recruiting FBs

i often find myself converting a te to fb because it fits my offense. normally i go with either a small elusive but big fb switch him to a rb, but most of the time i like having a big pounder at fullback on ncaa. it leaves teams off guard and i can get atleast 10-15 yrds of one fb dive and on goalline situations
