Re: Lack of injuries

Here's the injury rating reductions I apply to all my incoming players:

Offensive line (-60)
Quarterbacks (-15) (considering changing to -10)
All other offensive players (-20)
(considering changing running backs to (-15) instead of (-20)

Defense: all players (-40)

edit: I'm not using an editor, I have to manually revise each player

With that said, won't that reduce everyone's OVR rating significantly? Additionally, how do you lower just the incoming recruits/freshmen each season during a dynasty using the editor?

Re: Lack of injuries

I forgot how much I was taking away from each position last time I played a dynasty where I edited them, but I want to think everyone was in the 20's or low and I vividly remember each game having plenty of minor injuries at LB, DE, OL, TE because I was so excited to see guys missing plays or quarters at a time, but nothing drastic. I did get guys missing weeks, and seasons too, but I was seeing guys have to leave for one drive every game which is more realistic. I even had O-Line guys missing. I think I was doing something like 80's injuries were reduced to 20, 90's was 30, 70's 10, any thing lower than 70 would be like a 67 turns to 7, 55, turns to 5, and so on.

Some guys are warriors, so with the 90's being 30 even, some of them still would never get hurt which I liked. Others would get dinked up here and there. The guys at 10 and even 20 were inconsistent and made depth a lot more important. The guys in single digits were risks at all times.

A few years ago, Oraeon1224 came up with a near perfect way to get injuries into the game. They are below.

1) OL: Reduce injury to 30-40
2) DL: Reduce injury to 30-40
3) LB/Safety: Reduce injury to 50
4) CB: Reduce injury to 60
5) WR: Reduce injury to 65
6) TE: Reduce injury to 70
7) FB/HB/QB: Keep injury rating the same

They worked for a few releases of NCAA up until 2014. Then he stopped trying to get things to work so it's nice to know it is possible in 2014 to have guys get injured.

I believe back then this did not affect sim games, only games played live.

Re: Lack of injuries

I saw that one guy does the changes specifically for incoming freshman. What about the next few years for those same players? Will the lack of injuries come back when they are seniors due to progression? I guess my question is, do I need to make changes to my entire team every season? I'm not that proficient with the editor other than playoff stuff.

Re: Lack of injuries

Once you revise incoming freshmen, then they're set- you never have to mess with them again.

Taking a set number of points from a player's injury rating keeps things proportional to whatever injuring rating they had (vs setting all "CB's to 60). This preserves a bit of unique feel for each individual player.

To clarify, you do not have to edit your entire roster every offseason, just the incoming players. (in my case I'm not using whatever "editor" people are using, I'm just changing the attributes manually)

Re: Lack of injuries

I rarely have players get injured. And I don't think I've ever had a defensive player get injured.

I'm gonna do it tonight. I hope to be very frustrated and happy real soon. I really want depth to matter.

Re: Lack of injuries

Do you have injuries turned on? I'm only an Offensive Coordinator in my current dynasty but I've got two of my players on the Injured List. My Quarterback went down for six weeks and my backup Halfback went down for four.
