Re: Conferences

The relagation thing seems really cool. I'm in year 6 of my dynasty and I am loving it, but if I ever get bored then I will implement the relagation. Currently at UTSA and the Big 12 being Texas only interests me.

Re: Conferences

is it possible to create a playoff system just like in the NFL? And then let the BCS Championship game be between the winners of the two conferences (despite them maybe not being the highest ranked teams in the country)??

Just wanted to ask before spending hours on NCAA trying to create something that might not be possible lol

Mainly I went by geographical location and it gave me some interesting pairings....

Examples:

Arizona & St to the MW
Clemson, Georgia, Louisville, and Tech to the Sun Belt
SAlabama, Troy, and ALL Louisiana schools to the SEC
Iowa, Mizzou, Oklahoma, and Nebraska to CUSA
Penn St and Pitt to the American
Notre Dame and Ohio St to the MAC

And the most interesting thing, ALL 12 schools in the Big 12 are Texas based.

Geographical has made for some interesting conference title games and rivalries thus far...I have also noticed some lower teams, namely Arkansas St, UTSA, and Akron getting progressively better based on their competition....

I am curious as to how it will play out over a longer period of time (IE Notre Dame in the MAC) but so far its looking like a home run for creating more parity.

Doubtful....

The BCS tie in's work if teams do not achieve the #1 or #2 ranking, but the BCS rankings supersede everything you could try to program from our end....

I usually try to leave the tie-in's completely blank, that way the game programming and CPU usually places everything greatly in line once it comes to the major bowls...

Ex.

BCS NC - 1 vs 2

Orange Bowl - 3 v 4

Rose Bowl - 5 v 6 or 7

Fiesta Bowl - 6 or 7 v 8

Sugar Bowl - 9 v 10

That was just an example but many times it goes just like that with the numbers off by say 1-2 at most....and lets be honest, most ppl aren't going to be upset if the 4th best game decided to pit 6 v 10 (as long as you weren't the 7-9 ranking)

Yes, if you use the editor like described in here:
http://www.operationsports.com/forum...e-modding.html

(Mainly check out post #303 and the OP for the mechanics on how to do this).
I've done a 4 team playoff like Yengator described and have all records/stats updated correctly. I'm sure it'd work for a 6 or 8 team playoff too, but I'm not sure I'd want that many teams.

Right now I have #4 and #1 play in 1 BCS bowl, #s 2 and 3 in another, and then the winner of that game plays in the NCG.

I may try a 6 team playoff where 5 conference champs get a bid (ACC, B1G, Big XII, Pac12, SEC) and there's 1 at large. I could also try an 8 team playoff with 5 autos and 3 at larges.

Using Yengator and pocketscout's technique you should be able to have something like this (all off the top of my head as far as bowls are concerned):
(1)#8 @ #1 in Cotton
(2)#7 @ #2 in Capital 1
(3)#6 @ #3 in Rose
(4)#5 @ #4 in Fiesta
(5)Winner(1) v. Winner(4) in Orange
(6)Winner(2) v. Winner(3) in Sugar
Winner(5) v. Winner(6) in BCSNCG

Re: Conferences

been reading that guide on how to create a playoff system but I'm not sure if I'm gonna give it a try......it's not that important to have a playoff system.

to make the game a bit more interesting I'm considering to move teams around so that every conference is just as strong.

is it possible to create an own conference? (am at work so I can't check)
