Get NCAA 14 or save my money?

A couple of questions: Did EA take the Teambuilder/Roster servers down for NCAA 13? And if not, should I save my money and get '13 instead of '14?

I read a review for '14, apparently it's not that much different from '13? I'm still on 12 but I'm looking for a little more polish, more accurate conference lineups and such. Thanks in advance.

14 is vastly superior to 13.

As for not being much different, it's one of their biggest differences from 1 year to the next with the infinity engine, recruiting changes, and coaching leveling.

Yea, I hear there's a skill tree for the coaches? Can you explain that?

Re: Get NCAA 14 or save my money?

The skill points work by giving the coaches (head coaches and offensive/defensive coordinators) experience points based on game performance and recruiting. You can spend those on upgrades. The head coach has two trees, recruiting (more points per visit, more points per week, etc) and strategy (team starts rivalry games 'hot,' icing the kicker doesn't effect you, etc.) The coordinators have their own trees with things like enhanced pass blocking, enhanced zone defense, things like that. Each 'skill' has three levels, and there is a progression, so you can't go directly for the best skills, you have to build up.

As far as whether to get 14 or 13, 14 is a huge step up on the field and a good step up off the field. Also, there isn't another game coming out, for a long time at least, so you may as well be playing the best one if you're going to be playing something for potentially a few years.

Re: Get NCAA 14 or save my money?

Just to add my $0.02, I stopped buying the game in 2011. I simply could not stand the gameplay anymore.

However, after playing the demo, I bought NCAA 14 and have enjoyed it quite a bit. FAR from perfect, but it was the first time on the PS3 that I thought the gameplay was respectable and somewhat realistic. Would have liked to have seen where they could have gone from here.

For whatever that's worth.
