Two Way Player

Has anyone ever tried using an Athlete recruit as a two way player?

I have a recruit coming in that would be a beast at TE or D-Line and I want to use him at both positions. Any thoughts on how the awareness drop for playing out of position would affect the offensive or defensive side of the ball depending which position I switch him to?

Im sure the AWR drops everytime you move a player to a different position.. in the offseason. Not positive if it drops when playing a game though. Just test it out and see if it drops during a game

You lose more than AWR when playing someone out of position. I had a CB/WR ATH in another dynasty. I compared his ratings at various positions before picking one (by creating 2 copies of the player on the default roster, 1 at each position). Not only did he lose AWR, but he also lost some receiving ratings.
IE. The WR playing CB lost 25% of his CTH rating
The CB playing WR lost 35% of his CTH rating

Some guys out of position also lose core ratings too like STR and SPD.

Anywho, I move my guy to WR because the WR playing as a corner lost less than the CB playing as a WR. As a FR I played him in the slot and as the nickle back. As a SO I had enough corners to not need him so he only went both ways as a FR.

I like this post. I like how players lose stats, because it is realistic. Hard to focus on two positions and be good.

Re: Two Way Player

Another issue with reduced ratings for players out-of-position is related to how the software manages the Depth Chart for both CPU and User teams. Open any Depth Chart and look at players who appear in more than one position - you will see significantly reduced ratings for any player who is inserted into a secondary position slot in order to fill the Depth Chart's required number of players in each position. When these players are rotated into a game, their performance is significantly and negatively affected.

In fact, I believe that these types of substitutions are one of the ways the software implements momentum shifts and creates those in-game situations we've all seen where a team suddenly becomes either inept or unstoppable.

To reduce the impact of these situations, I recommend having a roster distribution match the depth chart requirements as closely as possible.

I wonder if there is an attribute (console editable or otherwise) which modulates the decrease in ratings when a player lines up in a different position.

Re: Two Way Player

If a player on my team wants to go both ways that's his business. I don't get into his private life, I just ask that he give his best effort every time he takes the field.

Re: Two Way Player

I was ahead of the real life curve and had Todd Gurley playing offense for UGA before he shocked CFB.

In my dynasties I have had ATH play WR/CB/FS and even QB/FS.
