on 3rd and short i'd always run, if i didn't make it i'd run again on 4th down. i never passed on third down unless it was more than 3 yards.

Same here. I agree, it's like they are programmed to drop it. Game seems to have an idea of who it wants to win before the game even starts. Sometimes its hard to persuade it differently.

3rd and short typically means 3rd and 5 yards or less to go. Obviously I'd run for it on 3rd and 1 or 2.

Re: Bullet or Toss it up?

i have a pretty balanced offense but i am alot better running the football. but i still do decent in the passing game. i felt that it is better to lob it when going long and throwing bullets over the middle and short passes

I;m surprised that so many people have a tough time running the ball. While the interior running game can be improved(on heisman), I have no problem averaging over 170 yds/game.

Re: Bullet or Toss it up?

I just played a couple of games last night and my user stats showed i average about 230 yards rushing and 250 yards passing per game. I like to keep it balanced. Throughout the year though I have had teams that were power running and teams that aired it out. I like to give everything a try.

The key to running is patience. I think that's why a lot of people can't run the ball well, they give up too easy. You can't expect a first down or longer run every time. A three-yard average is a good thing.

All I want from my passing game is one that's efficient. It can make plays when it needs to and throw the defense off. But I can't even get that. The completion %'s on the video game have to be less than half what it is in real life. I turn the WR catching and QB passing sliders all the way up and no one can catch a con sarned thing! I just don't get it.

It took me about 8 months to completely finetune the passing game, but reading the defense is key. exploiting speed matchups, running a lot of motion, watching for the safeties creeping up, throwing to a variety of recievers (don't forget the tailback and tightend) and seeing if the d is in man or zone are the keys to a good passing game. i usually just call a play and see what the defense is in, then call a play that might work against it. my comp. % has gone from in the 50's to around 65-70 and interceptions are a rarity
