With the addition of Miami and VT that bumps em down two notches. UVA is bettter, UM now 5th. Clemson will be much improved, UM now 6th. And didnt they lose a lot of players ?

You're right. The cupboard was left quite bare this season.

Our entire secondary will be filled with players that have little to no experience. Our O-line will also be very green.

We had pretty good recruiting class this year and we have an excellent one shaping up for next year.

I think we will have a 2 year period of 7-6, 6-7 seasons.

Hopefully, by then, our recruiting will have paid off.

of course the ACC, look at the teams in this conference

FSU, Miami and UNC, how could any other conference top this

UNC in football?

we are winning at least 6 games this year and i will show you how:

W&M: Win
Wake: Win
Dook: Win
L'ville & Utah: Win 1 out of 2 (or both)
NCSU, UVA, GaT, VaT: Win 2 out of 4
FSU & Miami: Expected to lose both

That's a 6 or 7 win season with ONLY 2 quality wins against "what should be" considered comparable ACC competition. That's not too much to ask.

I wouldn't be sleeping on UMD, not at all. They've recruited on the same level as UVA, Clemson, NC State, and UNC the past 3 or so years, and it's going to start showing. IMO, their only real question marks will be replacing McBrien at QB (Fridge did it once after his first year, he should be fine again) and Starks at DT. They'll have a great 1-2 punch at RB with Josh Allen and Sam Maldonado, a fast group of WRs let by always-dangerous Steve Suter, and once again one of the ACC's top O-Lines. The DL has talent, and the LB corps returns solid, talented players and adds guys like National HS Defensive POY Wes Jefferson.

With the Cav's QB questions, it's hard to say they're clearly better than UMD. Sure, they have possibly the best front-7 of anyone in the ACC including Miami, but they have questions of their own, just like the rest of the ACC.

or 5 like the SEC (UT, UF, Georgia, Auburn, Alabama)

Please tell me you just forgot to list the defending national champions of the year and one of the fastest teams of all last season, the Louisiana State University Fighting Tigers!!! Ooohh, the anger sharks are swimming in my head!! lol

Seriously, this is a pretty good post, lots of good points. Question though, are we looking at quality, or quantity, such as which conference has the best teams, or which conference has more good teams?

The Pac 10 is only top heavy with USC and even they are vulnerable to being beat in the Pac 10. Every other team in the Pac 10 is capable of beating one another even Standford and Arizona. You won't find that in the SEC, Big 10, Big 12, or ACC. Duke can't beat FSU, Indiana can't beat Michigan, Vanderbilt can't beat Tennessee, Baylor can't beat Texas.

Don't tell that to the Associated Press. "Hi, we're angry that the BCS takes the power out of our hands by reducing the power of our vote, so we're going to vote for USC no matter what, even though they play in a conference featuring themselves and a bunch of JV teams."
