Sooners 2003 revisited...........

Played Ncaa 04 for the first time since Feb. Played Minnesota @ Owen Field , heisman level

Won 17-0..........Mark Clayton was wacked, 11 catches 237 yards, TD...........kinda reminded me of the Sooners pre Big 12 Championship game............

Hmm....the Sooners pre Big 12 Championship game....the score would've been closer to 71-0, not 17-0.

Let's look to this year because they have to move on. They got every body on O back and alot of role players and starters coming back on defense. They have all-world A.P. So I suspect J. White will try really hard to make up for last years meltdown. Mark Clayton will probably be considered for the Heisman by mid-season.

I wonder how many Big 12 coaches watched the KSU and LSU blitz packages throw some cold water on that hot offense last year?

Those weren't new blitzes being thrown at them. That was: Wes Sims finally being exploited as the great run blocker but horrible pass protector that he is; secondaries doing a masterful job of jamming receivers at the line; Jason White's injuries (broken hand for one thing); and Kevin Wilson's (OL Coach) stubborn refusal to adjust blocking schemes to help out obviously out-manned Sims on the left side. Will coaches look at those tapes? Absolutely, but they won't learn anything new about front seven stunts as much as they will learn a jamming secondary and a sitting duck in the pocket can prove beneficial to the D.

I will be the first to say definitely not. Although last year was probably KSU's 2nd best team EVER, I don't think there is any doubt that OU was the more talented team overall. The three reasons that we beat OU:
1. KSU players were focused, because that was our "NC". OU was already looking ahead to the NC game. By winning the game, we got our first conference championship, a trip to a BCS bowl, a most important, a way to screw Texas out of a BCS game. OU had nothing to gain or lose from the game.
2. Mike Stoops was looking ahead to his new job and OU's defense suffered as a result (same thing he did in 1997 when coaching KSU in the Big XII championship, our BEST team EVER. Lost the game and a trip to the NC as a result).
3. OU had a ton of televised games last year, allowing the KSU coaches and players to analyze and exploit OU's problems. KSU had fewer televised games, and again, the OU coaches were not as concerned with the game at hand than the upcoming NC game. Jason White's injury didn't help them much either.

Texas Tech would have almost if not beaten OU if they could have held on to the ball and not thrown so many int's. Jason White was running for his life on many plays during that game and the score wasn't as lopsided as many had guessed it would be. OU pulled away in the 4th but it was still anyone's game for most of the game.
