This seems like a good way to defend the option... am I right? With the athletic players on the perimeter(the N and D), it seems like they could be tough to get around or through.

Wow...yeah. This defense looks tailor-made to stop the option/athletic QBs.

Great site, very helpful...It's nice to have sites like this to help pass the time until July 13th.

I've also saw a new defense formation in the IGN movie. Formation 4-2-5. I can't wait to try these new defensive plays since im a defensive guy.

Wasn't last year's "nickel" package a 4-2-5 alignment?

Wait, so the 3-3-5 has 3 down linemen, 3 linebackers, a free safety and 4 corners? Or does Nickel and Dime refer to safeties?

actually this defense doesn't work very well with athletic QBs that can beat the outer blitz to the corners. Joe Lee Dunn at Memphis basically invented this thing and the really athletic QBs have the opportunity to get 10+ yards by getting to the corner.

the nickel is 4 linemen, 2 linebackers, and 5 db's, but supposedly there is a difference (that's what the madbomber says). I suppose it will work a little more like the 3-3-5 with hybrid players. I know Auburn used to run a 4-2-5 type defense, with a dog and rover instead strong side linebacker and strong safety (karlos dansby started as a rover).
