Observations on AlphaBETA\'s impressions...

The first thing that jumps out at me is this impression from AlphaBETA:

"On offense, I'm seeing plays where a 92 spd WR is being tracked step for step by a 75 spd LB across the middle. 94 spd HB getting run down by 77 spd DL that started chasing from a couple yards back. This does a couple of things. For starters, it ruins some of the excitement on O, because you know that very few running plays are going over 20 yards no matter what guys you make miss. On D, you don't care as much about making the tackle because you know someone else will a couple yards later. The risk/reward of tackling, pursuit and all that is kind of handled by the weird slowness of the offense."

But, clearly, a speedy Michigan receiver is shown streaking down the sidelines, leaving both a CB and SS in his dust in the following video...

http://www.gameinformer.com/News/Sto...1820.49928.htm

So either A) AlphaBETA is playing with some sort of strange setting(s), or B) AlphaBETA's BETA copy is different from the Game Informer copy. With the recent announcement that the game has gone gold, here's hoping that the Game Informer version is the final verion, and that Alpha's BETA copy is outdated relative to the speed difference between O and D.

More observations to come later...

Well, AB's impressions are based off of the xbox version.

All the ign footage we've seen up till now has been on the xbox. Comparing that footage with the PS2 footage on gameinformer, there is no question that the PS2 version plays faster.

Yeah but alphabeta was playing the xbox version and the game informer guy was playing the ps2 version. He also said the cpu didnt run much unless it was heisman, but in that bama vs tenn vid the cpu ran every play on there 2 possesions and im sure he wasnt playing on heisman.

No, I think AB is playing the PS2 version. His screen captures are all PS2 screens.

So, you're telling me that on the XBOX version, the Michigan receiver will get tracked down by a CB, SS, or (goodness I hope not) a LB? Same play, same settings, same players, but on XBOX he gets caught and PS2 he doesn't?

EAS wouldn't do that would they?

um, i don't think so. I believe he has the xbox version.

Otherwise, his comment on the lack of speed wouldn't hold water.

compare the IGN footage with the footage from gameinformer.

Decide for yourself. The speed difference is quite apparent, IMO.
